Spiritual Growth In Christ

Our Faith Or His Faithfulness
by L. Phillip Schmidt

It's not our feelings towards trusting so much,
As our faith corresponding to His Graceful Touch.
And when nothing changes, bends or mends as we thought;
He is ever teaching His Faithfulness to us whom He bought!
Look up where Christ rose to the Heavenly Eternal Height,
For He will bring you up from each and every earthly plight.
Deliver you He will as you yield all cares and sorrows,
The Victor and Friend in all of your days and tomorrows!

The Forever Shore
by L. Phillip Schmidt

God only desires us to love Him right back,
Anything else, is lesser, or after the real fact.
By seeking opportunity through His Heart's Door,
We're gathered unto Him by the refining of our ore.
We realize everything He Is to us Is Good and More.
He's prepared a paradise for renewed souls upon the Eternal Shore.

Proponderance
by L. Phillip Schmidt

Since spiritual prides intend and contend not to wane
How can any such represent A Holy God as sane?
The spirit, soul and body - these only simplistic three
Are a form of definition of diversity - others call me!
However strayed, fallible, demerited, differing we be;
Our Wholeness in God is as unique as a university!
So where a sound spirit, soul and body are set free;
Our faith, hope and charity remains for all to see.

Taking Wings
by L. Phillip Schmidt

Christ is the answer - we the questioned.
How, Oh! How can we turn from the Perfect Exampled Interpretation?
Of Faith, Hope and Charity, has He not available all Three!
To the Way, Truth and Life setting our spirit's free.
He bids, "Come all weary and heavy laden follow after Me
And I'll lead you to The Spirit and The Bride to see;
Of Spiritual things where sorrows, trouble and grief take wings."
Such higher esteem, have no governments or kings.
He is our Life, Health and Strength in all our ways;
While others accumulate only "things" for earth's very short stay.

God's Love Esteemed
by L. Phillip Schmidt

What beauty of holiness of Job's costly brokenness and scars
Heavenly Hosts above; and below, the highest fallen, darkened stars,
What accounting, his earthly tribe and things of costly measure;
God's love esteemed more than relative relationship or temporal treasure.
A perfect example for both erect and fallen he did set,
For righteousness, mercy and grace he did not early get.
Enduring his cross to the seemingly utter earth's end;
God's truth, righteousness, grace, and holiness he sought not to bend.
For God and us each one, he stood tall, stout-hearted and true.
Rewards and sanctified holiness when crucibly tested is ours too.
God's love esteemed is what, how and the way of our need.
Wasting not upon self-pity or things of never-ending greed.
For in due time, we shall reap even if only in Eternity we realize
God's love esteemed, deeper than seas and searchfulness of skies!
By ending his test, God saw to it he'd be twice blest;
So it is still upon this blue planet, The Father's caress!

When?
by L. Phillip Schmidt

When God gives us a mountain;
He gives a climbing ladder of Grace.
When God sends us dark valleys;
He gives the longer light of Faith.
When God sends us a cross;
He gives us joy that sings.
When God bids us to soar;
He always gives us wings.
When the love of God is greatest;
His care is also as deep and wide.
When there's one need we feel;
His kaleidoscopic Merciful Grace still will provide.

Abiding Presence
by Esther Schmidt

Oh, to have more of You,
And Your Will to always do;
To listen quietly to Your Voice,
Helping me make the right choice.
This is my prayer to You, O God,
As I tread this earthly sod;
Enjoying Your presence, peace and power,
Moment by moment and every hour.

My Daily Prayer
by Esther Schmidt

Father God, have Your Will and Your Way
In my life each and every day.
Be all You can be to and for me,
Then through me to others that I see;
Cheering the weary, sick, and sad;
Revealing the Saviour to those Satan had;
Being a friend to those in need;
And destroying every harmful seed;
So my beautiful garden of life
Will flourish without pride or strife.

How Readest Thou?
Author Unknown

It is one thing to read the Bible through,
Another thing to read to learn and do.
Some read it as their duty once a week,
But no instructions from the Bible seek;
Some read to bring themselves into repute
By showing others how they can dispute;
While others read because their neighbors do.
To see how long it will take to read it through.
Some read it for the wonders that are there,
How David killed a lion and a bear;
While others read it with uncommon care,
Hoping to find some contradictions there.
One reads with father's specs upon his head,
And sees the thing just as his father said.
Some read to prove a preadopted creed;
Hence understand but little that they read,
For every passage in the book they bend
To make it suit that all-important end.
Some people read as I have often thought,
To teach the Bible instead of being taught;
And some there are who read it out of spite,
I fear there are but few who read it right.
So many people in these latter days
Have read the Bible in so many ways
That few can tell which system is the best,
For every party contradicts the rest.
But read it prayerfully and you will see,
Although men contradict, God's Words agree;
For what the early Bible prophets wrote,
We find that Christ and His apostles quote.
So trust no creed, that trembles to recall;
What has been penned by One and verified by all.
