Value Of Life

In a society where it is acceptable to terminate the unborn, it is well to consider the value God places upon human life even before the moment of conception as God told the prophet Jeremiah: "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee." Jeremiah 1:5(a).

"God knew you, as he knew Jeremiah, long before you were born or even conceived. He knew you, thought about you, and planned for you. When you feel discouraged or inadequate, remember that God has always thought of you as valuable and has had a purpose in mind for you." - Life Application Bible, p. 1235.

God Originates All Life

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!" Psalm 139:14-17.

"God's character goes into the creation of every person. When you feel worthless or even begin to hate yourself, remember that God's Spirit is ready and willing to work within you. God thinks of you constantly (Psalm 139:17, 18). We should have as much respect for ourselves as our Maker has for us." - Life Application Bible, p. 1066.

"But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help." Psalm 22:9-11.

"God's loving concern does not begin on the day we are born and conclude on the day we die, but reaches back to those days before we were born, and reaches ahead along the unending path of eternity. Our only sure help comes from a God whose concern for us reaches beyond our earthly existence. When faced with such love, how could anyone reject it?" - Life Application Bible, p. 969.

"Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?" Job 31:15.

"As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all." Ecclesiastes 11:5.

"Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb." Isaiah 46:3.

"Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen." Isaiah 44:2.

God Has A Purpose For Each Individual

"Before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Jeremiah 1:5(b).

"Each Christian has a purpose in life, but some are appointed or anointed by God for a specific kind of work. Samson (Judges 13:3-5), David (Psalm 139:13), John the Baptist (Luke 1:13-17), and Paul (Galatians 1:15, 16) were each called to do a particular job for God. Whatever work you do should be done for the glory of God. If God gives you a specific task, accept it cheerfully and do it with excellence. If God has not given you a specific assignment, then seek to fulfill the mission common to all believers - love, obey, and serve God - until such time as his guidance becomes more clear." - Life Application Bible, p. 1235.

Children Are God's Reward To Us

"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Psalm 126:3. [emphasis added]

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14.

"Jesus wanted little children to come because he loves them and because they have the kind of attitude needed to approach God. He didn't mean that heaven is only for children, but that people need childlike attitudes of trust in God. The receptiveness of little children was a great contrast to the stubbornness of the religious leaders who let their education and sophistication stand in the way of the simple faith needed to believe in Jesus." - Life Application Bible, p. 1605.

God Sustains All Life

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19.
