ELECTION

A Change Of Office ... A New Position In God

"So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen." Matt. 20:16.

"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." Eph. 1:4.

"Paul said, God ‘hath chosen us,’ to emphasize that salvation depends totally on God. We are not saved because we deserve it, but because God is gracious and freely gives it. We did not influence God’s decision to save us; he did it according to his plan. Thus there is no way to take credit for our salvation, or to find room for pride. The mystery of salvation originated in the timeless mind of God long before we existed. It is hard to understand how God could accept us, but because of Christ we are holy and blameless in his eyes. God chose us, and when we belong to him through Jesus Christ, he looks at us as if we had never sinned." - Life Application Bible, p. 2068.

"Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth." Rom. 8:33.

"Do you ever think that because you aren’t good enough for God, he will not save you? Do you ever feel as if salvation is for everyone else but you? Then these verses are especially for you. If God gave his Son for you, he isn’t going to hold back the gift of salvation! If Christ gave his life for you, he isn’t going to turn around and condemn you! He will not withhold anything you need to live for him. The book of Romans is more than a theological explanation of God’s redeeming grace - it is a letter of comfort and confidence addressed to you." - Life Application Bible, p. 1978.

"Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied." 1 Pet. 1:2

"Peter encouraged his readers by this strong declaration that they were chosen (‘elect’) by God the Father. At one time, only the nation of Israel could claim to be God’s chosen people; but through Christ, all believers - Jews, former Jews, and Gentiles - belong to God. Our salvation and security rest in the free and merciful choice of the almighty God; no trials or persecutions can rob us of the eternal life he gives to those who believe in him. This verse mentions all three members of the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All members of the Trinity work to bring about our salvation. The Father chose us before we chose him (Ephesians 1:4). The Son died for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:6-1). The Holy Spirit brings us salvation and sets us apart (sanctifies us) for God’s service (2 Thessalonians 2:13)." - Life Application Bible, p. 2195.

."Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God." 1 Thess. 1:4.

"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." 2 Pet. 1:10

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." John 15:16.
