"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die...." Ecclesiastes 3:1, 2.
"Many people avoid thinking about death, refuse to face it, and are reluctant to attend funerals. Solomon is not encouraging us to think morbidly, but he knows that it is helpful to think clearly about death. It reminds us that there is still time for change, time to examine the direction of our lives, and time to confess our sins and find forgiveness from God. Because everyone will eventually die, it makes sense to plan ahead to experience God's mercy rather than his justice." - Life Application Bible, p. 1132."If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come." Job 14:14.
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." John 11:25, 26.
"Jesus has power over life and death as well as power to forgive sins. This is because he is the Creator of life (see John 14:6). He who is life can surely restore life. Whoever believes in him has a spiritual life that death cannot touch or diminish in any way. When we realize his power and how wonderful his offer to us really is, how can we help but commit our lives to him! To those of us who believe, what wonderful assurance and certainty we have: 'Because I live, ye shall live also' (John 14:19)." - Life Application Bible, p. 1828.
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14: 1-3.
"There are few verses in Scripture that describe eternal life, but they are rich with promises. Here Jesus says, 'I go to prepare a place,' and 'I will come again.' We can look forward to eternal life because Jesus has promised it to all who believe in him. Although the details of eternity are unknown, we need not fear, because Jesus is preparing for us and will spend eternity with us." - Life Application Bible, p. 1837.
"For he [Abraham] looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb. 11:10.
"For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." Heb. 13:14.
"And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" 1 Corinthians 15:49-55.
"Satan seemed to be victorious in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) and when Jesus died on the cross. But God turned Satan's apparent victory into defeat when Jesus Christ rose from the dead (Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14, 15). Thus death is no longer a source of dread or fear. Christ overcame it, and one day we will also. The Law will no longer make sinners out of us because we cannot keep it. Death has been defeated, and we have hope beyond the grave." - Life Application Bible, p. 2024.
"Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (for we walk by faith, not by sight): we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:6-8.
"Paul was not afraid to die because he was confident of spending eternity with Christ. Of course, facing the unknown may cause us anxiety and leaving loved ones hurts deeply, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can share Paul's hope and confidence and confidence of eternal life with Christ." - Life Application Bible, p. 2035.
" So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: it is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." 1 Corinthians 15:42-44.
"Our present bodies are 'corruptible,' perishable, and liable to decay. Our resurrection bodies will be transformed. These spiritual bodies will be above and not limited to the laws of nature. This does not necessarily mean we'll be superpeople, but our bodies will be different and more capable than our present earthly bodies. Our spiritual bodies will not be weak, will never get sick, and will never die." - Life Application Bible, p. 2023.
